Who's this?

There are so many sides to a person but most people flatten you down into one dimension. You’re either an asshole or a hero, a fame-whore or a nerd, a doctor or a plumber. People are much more than their spoken outbursts, their mannerisms or their job title.

Just because I said something controversial about Israeli settlements at a party once, does that make me an anti-semite in the eyes of all the people at Sally’s 26th? People only get what you give them and what you give them really depends on your mindset on any given day. Maybe you had a shitty week, maybe your male supervisor just made a dicky comment about your outfit at work, but maybe he himself just split up with his girlfriend and - in actual fact - loves women with an intensity not reciprocated, a fact which makes him come off as a tad sexist now and again.

Perhaps we’re all just misunderstood. Perhaps if we just took the time to see each other as imperfect individuals still figuring it all out, we’d be a little less quick to judge. Many of us feel we have something vital that needs saying, but more often than not we don’t know how to say it. Not without sounding like an illiterate wanker anyway.

So LessEvolved is a way of presenting me and all of my sides. It’s personal, it’s political, it’s self-deprecating and self-promotion. It’s a work in progress, just like us all. Try to enjoy it, but if you have to try too hard, perhaps me and it are not for you. And that’s ok.
